This season we made 6 snowshoe loops at Eb's Trails. There are 2 from the south parking lot and 4 from the north parking lot/hut area. We are working on better maps and signage for future seasons. We respectfully request that snowshoers and hikers do not use any part of the packed ski trail area. Many folks do not realize that the whole packed area on either side of the two classis ski tracks is also part of a ski track. It is packed and smoothed for skiers to use for safe navigation of inclines, declines and corners, especially novice skiers, of which we have lots this year! When this area is roughed up by boots or snowshoes it hardens into what can be dangerous to skiers.
To our great disappointment, we are finding that even with the snowshoe routes, our ski trails are still being used for hiking and snowshoeing, so we ask that anyone reading this post please help to welcome and educate all. Of course snowshoers are welcome to use virgin snow areas throughout the forest as well, but it is not unheard of to get lost if you are not a good navigator.
We are working on a snowshoe connector route between the two parking lots. Please let us know if you have suggestions for more snowshoe routes. This is a work in progress. Thank you, Kate
