It’s a great way to get ready\, for the ski season. We usually hike about 12 km\, with water breaks\, and a lunch break. Some hikes are followed by a fall supper\, wiener roast…. Please bring lots of water\, a lunch\, a sit-upon\, hat\, clothing layers\, sturdy shoes\, sunscreen\, money for a supper (if attending)\, $10.00 per person\, for the driver\, for gas\, if carpooling…. \n*Meeting places can vary. \nPlease let me know\, if you too would like to volunteer to lead a hike\, clear trails\, help maintain our huts\, and outdoor biffies\, create the winter wood supply…. DESCRIPTION:Specific Information\nMeet:  9:45 a.m. across from the Lawson Civic Centre\, in the Lawson Height’s Mall parking lot\, by the park \nLeader:  Hardy Menke   306-477-0593 \n\nHiking about 12 km\, through new-growth forest\, with some hills\, and vistas\nFollowed by the Duck Lake Fall Supper\n\nWe will be hiking where ski trails were created but then the largest fire\, in recent history\, in the Nisbet forest occurred:  the “North Cabin Fire” of 1989. The fire started in the MacDowall Block\, and jumped the North Saskatchewan River. One person lost his life\, 17\,000 hectares of forest burned\, and one house was destroyed. Now\, we can witness the amazing re-growth of nature!

DESCRIPTION:There are 4 hikes schedule for this spring: Douglas Provincial Park near Elbow\, Eagle Hills near Asquith\, Little Red near Prince Albert and Transcanada Trail near Elbow. We will try something new this spring. We will do a hike on Saturday during the Mother’s Day weekend. We usually hike about 10-12 km\, with rest stop for water and lunch. We meet usually at 9h45 am at different locations\, according to which direction we are heading. The arrival time in Saskatoon is about 5h-6h pm. \nHikers should be member of the Saskatoon Nordic Ski Club. Newcomers may attend one “free” hike to check out the club\, before signing up. Bring a lunch\, lots of water\, wear clothing according to the weather\, a sit-upon and wear sturdy shoes. The weather and terrain can vary\, throughout the day. SUMMARY:Eagles Hills
DESCRIPTION:This hike explores the Eagle Hills\, to the west of Eagles Creek Regional Park. We will hike through a large area of hilly woodland\, and emerge into open prairie with views over the lower country to the south and east. In spring there should be lots of prairie flowers. On the way back to the cars\, we will walk through the site of the original Lakeshore Tree Farm. \nIt is about 1 hour drive west of Saskatoon toward Asquith on highway 14\, then highway 376 going north toward Arelee.
